Award Winning Dresses — Recognizing New Talent
Bridal gowns and dresses are always in news for the new designs and styles that win awards or when fabricated by popular designers for big stars. Now and then ceremonies are held to reward the best designers for their award winning dresses and gowns, and recently one was held at the Dubai International Exhibition Centre. The coveted dress award has been won by the Lana Nahawi, a 26-year-old Palestinian student of the Dubai International Institute. The competition was among the 29 entrants from five top design colleges of Dubai and Sharjah, the Pearl Academy, Preston University, The Design Academy, The Dubai International Institute and the Beams International Centre.
Swarovski a leading crystal manufacturer was the awards sponsor. The award winning dress was made of cream silk with red leather straps giving full space to the creative whiff of a designer. Grace Ghunaim, one of the judges and Manager at Swarovski explained, We chose Lana's design because it really stood out from other dresses and gowns. The design was superbly executed and was an excellent reflection of this year's Renaissance theme. The two runner ups and the winner were awarded with a trophy made up of Swarovski crystal components and an opportunity to do internships with renowned UAE fashion houses.
